The introduction of microelectronics was an important breakthrough in medical applications such as health monitoring and diagnosis. Implantable devices such as pacemakers, cardio-defibrillators and cochlear implants provide better comfort to the patient and improve the quality of healthcare. Designing the transceivers in these devices for ultra-low power without compromising on reliability is a major challenge.

In this project, we propose to make an RF recceiver that consumes minimum power and can be used for health monitoring. The proposed technology is CMOS VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration). The transceiver is to work in the MICS (Medical Implant Communications Service) band of 402-405MHz which is a low power, unlicensed, mobile radio service used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in implanted medical devices.
