Home based nutrition counseling program
PI: Prof. Mrinmoyi Kulkarni, Humanities and Social Sciences
Worldwide, malnourishment is linked to half of all child deaths and is also responsible for 35 per cent of the disease burden of children below 5 years of age. Various studies have indicated a relationship between stunting and impaired cognitive development. In addition, women being underweight in the reproductive age group are very likely to give birth to babies with low birth weight, which is a potent risk factor for child’s physical and mental development. As part of this project, a home based nutritional counselling program will be developed that will incorporate behaviour change techniques in terms of feeding behaviour of the mother.
